Investigation of Ag doping and ligand engineering on green synthesized CdS quantum dots for tuning their optical properties

We present a green route for the colloidal synthesis of undoped and silver (Ag) doped cadmium sulfide (CdS) quantum dots (QDs). have used olive oil as reaction medium, which acted source oleic acid (OA) ligand in CdS QDs. With increase OA concentration, dispersibility QDs improved. The water-dispersible were prepared via exchanging OA’s associated with 3-mercaptopropionic (MPA). MPA-capped showed disappearance S-H peak characterized FTIR. crystal optical properties Ag-doped investigated, spectral red shift absorption spectra was observed. low Ag doping concentration increased lifetime excitons, but average suppressed at higher concentration. also discussed variation through engineering doping. These potential applications photocatalysis, water splitting, solar cells, etc. In addition, dispersible can be helpful bioimaging, drug delivery
